Our Faith
Orthodox Christianity embodies the rich spiritual treasures of simple faith founded on Jesus Christ and transmitted through his disciples. Our way of life and worship strives for the authentic, organic, unbroken, and unadulterated life and worship of that same Church, sustained by the Holy Spirit and lived out in every generation by the holy people of God.
The same lands first evangelized by the Apostles are still home to their successors, many of whom are our current bishops and spiritual leaders. They are the places of martyrdom of those who struggled under persecution in the Church’s first centuries, and whose relics are now deposited in our altar tables. They were a refuge for the Desert Fathers and Mothers, who abandoned worldly ways, prayed without ceasing, and subdued passions. They are the pulpits of Luminaries and Teachers who refuted heresy and articulated the unalterable doctrines of the Church.
By God’s grace, we remain united to that same confession, communion, and tradition. Our beliefs are expressed concisely in the Nicene-Constantinopolitan Creed (see below). This statement of faith remained free from later alterations allowed by the Roman church, to say nothing of having been firmly established for over a thousand years before the fragmentation initiated by the Protestant Reformation. It is our daily privilege to strive to be worthy of this heritage, answering to the high calling to love God and neighbor. We welcome any who wish to join us on the path of repentance, salvation, and eternal life.

Born from the faith, vision, and efforts of parishioners from Charlotte's Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, our parish received its charter from the Metropolis of Atlanta in August of 1998. Since then, the Lord has blessed us with a variety of building ventures and community expansions, as he continues to bring new members into our loving family of faith.
On October 18, 2002 we received a portion of the relic of our beloved patron saint, Nektarios, from the Greek island of Aegina. People come to venerate from near and far. Our parish’s patronal feast day is November 9.
In 2007, we began a seven-year iconography project led by Tom Clark, and in 2022, we hired our first Director of Music Ministry and Protopsaltis. These major milestones in our short history mark a great honor for our community, and with them comes an awesome responsibility.
Story
We cherish our rich spiritual heritage and the opportunity to nurture and cultivate it. The center of our corporate activity is worship, a meeting point of heaven and earth, an immersion in God's grace by means of Holy Scripture, sacred imagery and song, and the stories and presence of God's friends, the saints. We seek continual growth in the legacy of God’s revelation, and to share his grace with more and more people. Investing our time, talents, and treasure, we undertake the philanthropic and evangelical efforts of the Church locally and across the globe.
Values
