About the Wedding Service
The marriage service consists of the Rite of Betrothal and the Rite of Crowning.

In the Rite of Betrothal, the couple have their rings blessed and exchanged between them a sign of their voluntary pledge to enter into marriage.

The Rite of Marriage includes the joining of hands, the crowning of the couple, drinking blessed wine from a common cup, and a solemn, joyous procession. Placing crowns on the heads of the couple signifies their union and their role as "king and queen" of their home, and the heavenly reward for a life of sacrifice for one another.
Both rites are filled with references from the Old and New Testaments. In addition to praying to God for a blessed married life, these references provide godly role models and lessons for marriage.
